When he took her back to her place much later that day he could not persuade her to come back home with him.

“I have work tomorrow and I am exhausted,” she told him firmly, as he came inside her living room.

“We could take a relaxing bath together.” He caught her around the waist and imprisoned her against his long lean body. “Just a bath, I promise.”

“You cannot promise that.” Stephanie braced her hands against his chest.

“You are right.” He looked down at her with a slight frown. “I lose control when I am around you and I cannot seem to help myself. How about we watch something on TV?”

“No.” She pushed at him but he would not budge. “I need some time to recover from you.”

“I don’t need to recover from you,” he told her as his head descended. Stephanie felt herself weakening but she fought it.

“Ian please!” she begged.

He lifted his head and saw her genuine distress and released her. “Okay,” he told her reluctantly as he stepped back. “When can I see you again?”

“I will let you know.” She was fighting not to throw herself into his arms and she had a feeling that he knew!

He confirmed it by looking at her quizzically. “Are you sure you want me to leave?”

“I am not sure,” she said shakily as she wrapped her hands around her waist. “But I need some alone time.”

He inclined his head. “I will call you tomorrow.” He approached her and she stepped back. “Just a peck on the cheek, Stephanie.” There was a trace of amusement in his voice as he advanced again. She forced herself to stand still as he came over and cupped her face between his hands. “So beautiful,” he whispered as his head lowered, but instead of kissing her cheek he brushed his lips lightly over hers before stepping back. He stood there looking at her for a moment before he turned on his heels and strode away, closing the door behind him. Stephanie went to lock the door with trembling fingers, leaning against it as she took several deep breaths. She almost ran after him and told him that she had changed her mind, but she had told him the truth. She needed the alone time to sort through the puzzling feelings charging through her body! She pressed her forehead against the door as she went over everything that had happened between them and the quickness of it. He had her crawling out of her skin by just one touch and when he did those things to her she felt as if she was reaching for the moon! She laughed shakily, and taking a deep breath she moved away on trembling legs. Tonight in bed she was going to be reliving everything he had done to her!
